Sample Paper on Early Childhood Education
The overall goal for children in an early childhood program is to interact with their fellow children and fill their lives with enjoyable moments. This is what children look forward to, but in the course of time, they gain more experience that enables personal growth and development. They gain social skills and learn a lot of things from their teachers and fellow children. They quickly learn languages, see other behavioral patterns and develop their self-esteem in social groups.
Teachers, on the other hand, have a role of ensuring that they set a good learning platform for each child. Teachers monitor development progress of children and identify gaps that may need special attention. They are also responsible for teaching children on conduct rules and how they should carry themselves. They teach them what is wrong and what is right through positive punishment when they go astray and praising them for good behavior. Teachers also provide academic education to children like reading, drawing and counting among other skills. In addition, they educate children on study skills. In general, I think teachers have the biggest role in the early childhood education because everything children learn and do is facilitated by them.
I think children need a good environment when growing. I believe a good environment for young children is one where all their needs are addressed. Their needs include basic needs like food, shelter, and clothing, and educational needs like learning, being nurtured and feeling that other people are open and friendly towards them in the learning process. Children should be in an environment where everyone around them intents good attitude towards them. They need to be around adults that are aware of children emulating them, and this should prompt them to act as good role models. Most importantly, I think children should communicate with other children who are at the same level of development so that they can learn together conveniently.
I also think children should be learning almost everything in the aspect of human life. Academic things like reading, speaking correctly, writing and solving simple mathematical problems is the most widely applied development strategy. However, there is more for them to learn. First, children should learn to socialize with their fellow children with the help of their teacher’s guidelines. The teacher ensures that they adopt good social skill and grow as socially and morally responsible individuals. I think children also learn to be confident when they listen, speak and share their views and opinions, while participating in activities like playing and singing among others.
Children also have a role in their early childhood environment. They should act as a means through which others learn from them. That is conducting themselves well because children tend to emulate each other. This will ensure they emulate good habits and patterns. Children also have a role of sharing their knowledge. If they know something others do not, then it is their responsibility to teach them. For example, teaching each other a song or a game. Children also have the role of listening to their teacher and obeying them.
Parents are key facilitators in childhood education. I expect them to keep in touch with teachers regarding their children’s progress and behavior and be ready to cooperate whenever they are needed to address various issues concerning their children. They should communicate with their children and teach them the importance of relating well with their fellow children as well as obeying their teachers. Parents should also work hand in hand with teachers to ensure that children gain all benefits of a childhood program. Early childhood education is, therefore, a joined effort between teachers, parents, and children.
