Each answer should be at least 500 words long. Make sure that your answers are not simply summaries of material that has already been presented. Support and justify your answers by demonstrating knowledge of cultural, economic, geographic, historical, and political dimensions and by applying a theoretical approach (narration, history, insularity, race, ethnicity, etc.) to explain how you formed your understanding of Taiwan.
1. Using three (3) of the texts describe how non-indigenous groups have shaped the culture of Taiwan as it is today. Be sure to answer the following three questions for each example: 1) Where did each group come from? 2) when did they arrive? And 3) how did or do they shape Taiwanese culture?
Be sure to 1) use concrete, specific examples from the text, and 2) write at least one paragraph on each of the text.
2. On Happiness Road, The Man with the Compound Eyes, and “Cold Sea, Deep Feelings” all contain indigenous characters. For each text identify at least one indigenous character and discuss how she/he is presented.
Be sure to 1) use concrete, specific examples from the text, and 2) write at least one paragraph on each story.
Please DO NOT include quotations from the book and its page numbers. Write as if you do not have the text in front of you.
I have linked the answers of each of the questions on a document called EAS FINAL ANSWER. Question 2 is not complete.
