Mental health basically involves a personal matter. It particularly dwells with the psychological wellness of a living being. It refers to how human beings think, feel and their behavioral characteristic. Mental illness on the hand refers to a variety of mental disorders that affects one’s feeling, thinking and behavior. Such disorders tend to influence how one interact with other people and the various tasks every day. The various mental illness includes stress, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism and addictions.

Mental health normally interferes with a person’s day to day activities, socialism, and one’s health condition. Mental health may also affect one’s life in such a way a person’s peace of mind and daily activities (Vigo&D,2016). According to Med lexicon’s medical dictionary, mental health is one’s behavior, feeling and mood. Scientists in the medical field say that human beings have a likely hood to develop mental health conditions regardless of the age or gender. Almost 1 in 5 in the people in the United States of America develops mental health problems every year which represents about 18.5 percent. In 2015, in the United States of America approximately 9.8 million people had a complicated mental health condition. That is equivalent to 4.8 percent of the total population of adults living in the United State.

Mental health conditions are at the forefront of the many disability causes amongst the third world countries and the developed countries .According to the World Health Organization ,mental health involves one health condition in which one is enabled to achieve his/her abilities and strength and how to deal with one’s mental disorders on a normal day life .It also focuses on how one is able to achieve the daily set goals and the influence one makes towards the society .The WHO also puts emphasis that mental health does not only involve the mental conditional disorders.

Mental illness is a crucial health issue in which in most communities in the world has been taking it as taboo topic .In modern days however health care providers in the world have started to educate the society about the mental illness and its devastating effect on one’s health .The Center for Disease Control (CDC) do acknowledge depression as an important health issue as it is an example of a mental illness that  causes injury and illness to people all over the world. It has adverse collateral effects on the society and family level. According to the CDC, mental illness affects negatively on the person’s output and income power. It has an economic budget of over $200 billion in 2010.the present understanding of mental illness as a mental disorder is only accepted by only serious psychological situations .Mental illness normally takes several forms some of which are mild and only affect one in minimum ways on day to day activities for example some phobias .Most disorders are adverse and requires a person should seek medical advice. (Westerhof ,2010).

From the above discussion its evidently clear that mental health is not the same as mental illness .This is clearly shown by the fact that mental health deals with one mental wellness  and the persons behavior and feelings .To the contrary , mental illness pertains to the mental disorders and that leads to some mental conditions that affect a persons way of doing daily activities and how he/she relates to other people.
