 There are five steps in the process of quantitative data collection, which involve much more than simply gathering information. This process involves the steps of determining the participants to study, obtaining permissions needed, considering what types of information to collect, locating and selecting instruments to use, and administering the data collection process to collect data. Examine these five steps in the quantitative data collection process.

Quantitative research encompasses a methodology that systematically answers a question that has been posed. The academic communities strive to increase student success and therefore quantitative research offers a study to identify areas of concern, which then can be isolated and improved (Creswell, 2015).   The first step is classifying criteria that will identify the participant and sample size which includes a cohort or organization. The second step is initiated by obtaining permission from the appropriate channels to conduct the research. Fourth, an instrument involves the gathering of data, and must be scrutinized in terms of reliability and validity.

 

Paragraph 2- Determining the participants of the study and obtain permission

The initiation of the quantitative methodology utilizes principles of selection in terms of population, target sample and two forms systematic sampling (Creswell, 2015). The researcher identifies the unit of analysis by considering the information that will be attained which then further identifies a target population. However, Creswell (2015) argues that much more is needed, in terms of who will be selected. The goal is to choose a target population, which includes specific characteristics that embody…..
