Virtual Labs
In a team of 4 members, you have to undertake a research-based review and evaluation of a
strategic change program or project within an organization based in UAE (you can choose the
organization one of the team members is working in). The change program or process can be
completed (summative review) or ongoing (formative review) for over six months. The nature of
change can be Mergers and Acquisitions, Restructuring, Digital Transformation, the introduction
of new HR systems or Enterprise-wide Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and
any other which may be discussed with the professor.
Each team will produce a proposal (virtual lab week 5) and a final consulting research report
(virtual lab week 11)
1A Change Initiative, Applied Research Proposal to establish the project scope,
objectives, relevant academic/professional literature and secondary documentation sources,
methodology, deliverables, timelines, (budget if applicable) of the consulting or applied
research/case study. Maximum 2,000 words excluding references and appendices.
The proposal communicates what the project is about and how the study will be conducted
and hence can be based on secondary research and limited primary research.
1B Final Report including an index, executive summary objectives and scope of the project
method and justification, relevant literature and models, key research or consulting findings,
detailed recommendations and /or action plan. Maximum: 4000 words (team) excluding
references and appendices.
The focus is on evaluation of the change initiative or project and recommendations to be put
forth. Extensive use of primary and secondary information sources is expected. Interviews
with relevant managers is needed. Interviews with employees will add value

objective, Scope of change (functional, organization-wide, etc)
• Change Vision and direction
• What is the level / depth of change involved?
• Analysis of the external environment factors and the pressures for change
• Analysis of external communications about the change
• Methodology you propose to adopt
o Sources of information
o Data collection methods proposed
o Models or frameworks that will be used (indicative can change later)
o Team members competencies and role in the change project

– Provide an analysis and evaluation of the change process or discuss how the
proposed process will be evaluated. Designated key performance indicators
and other measures of performance or change management outcomes such
as share price, revenue growth, and return or investment should be included
in the discussion.
