Action against Hunger

Action against hunger is an international organization that strives to save the lives of malnourished children and aid vulnerable communities to be self-sufficient. It is also referred to as AFC and it serves approximately 13 million people across forty-five countries. The objective of this organization is to put hunger to an end in the globe. Action against hunger also initiates long term strategies to curb food crises. As a result, their global effort has saved thousands of lives annually and assisted to ensure that malnourished kids stay healthy.

In bid to fight against hunger, this organization dedicates its funds to save lives via humanitarian programs. Action against hunger fights the condition by providing proper healthcare, food sustainability, nutrition and sanitation (Bush 42). In addition, the organization plays a significant role of curbing hunger by offering training to the affected populations to ensure they are self sufficient. Action against hunger incorporates an integrated approach that depicts expertise in their nutrition to prevent famine from spreading especially in poorest sections of the planet. In its efforts to prevent hunger, the association deploys enthusiastic and energetic staffs who commit themselves in making a difference to change the lives of people.

Research indicates that millions of people have no access to clean water, health services, food, or education. They have no option but to languish in poverty and to hinder this problem, action against hunger brings hope to individuals in underdeveloped countries by improving their quality of life. Action against hunger has more than 30 years of experience in handling emergencies of chronic food insecurity (Clark 78). In its efforts to prevent hunger, AFC incorporates humanitarian programs that directly reach the victims of hunger with help of the government and ministries. As a result of their actions to stop hunger, the organization has restored self sufficiency, dignity and has become independent to vulnerable populations across the globe.

Action against hunger has directly been participating in community by initiating activities to deal with emergency nutrition. To ensure that there is proper hygiene and long-term food security, AFC solves underlying causes of hunger. This is through addressing its technical, social, and resource concerns that is necessary to advance the welfare of the community. The organization integrates its plans by coordinating with both local and national systems. It aids to eradicate hunger when AFC changes short-term interventions into long-term solutions that are sustainable.

It is also evident that through training workshops and seminars, the organization promotes local capacity to improve the situation of the society. As a humanitarian agency, AFC’s efforts in fighting against hunger are clear when it offers help when it is most needed. From its transparency and full accountability, the firm implements its programs directly by ensuring that the main financial details are accessible. This is through their approaches that undergo evaluation of their external outcome. In curbing the hunger situation, the organization also ensures that it is cost effective and efficient.

I support AFC’s efforts of eradicating hunger across the world especially when the organization transforms the agriculture sector. For instance, it has projects that facilitate supply of money and food to people to cater for themselves in a sustainable manner. This strategy is powerful in fighting hunger because it enables majority of areas that are impoverished to avoid depending on assistance from foreign countries (Dewey 113). Through these actions, such poor developing states find their own means of survival by being self reliant and avoiding debts. For instance, the affected countries take advantage of the funded projects by initiating a steady supply of food. AFC fights against hunger by ensuring that it is assists individuals in poor countries to get credit. This promotes nations economically through the help of industries that aid them to combat poverty.

Food donations have also contributed in a great way to fight against hunger. Furthermore, transitioning has helped majority of families to handle poverty to avoid being over dependent. For instance, action against hunger has helped most families in this by giving them food and formulating solutions that empower them to be independent. Through self sufficiency, poor communities are in position to cope up with the amount of food that they receive. This is vital because these individuals participate in fighting hunger instead of relying on donations, which do not always guarantee food. Action against hunger fights the condition by encouraging urban farming to motivate families to be in control over their food sources.

Additionally, the organization has shown its efforts to fight against hunger by ensuring that people in poor societies access education. This is because education is the best way to fight against hunger and poverty. It also implies that in a community where people are elite, there is a better chance to access food and income. The government intervention facilitates aid to foreign countries by promoting programs that give food to children and their mothers in poverty-stricken regions. AFC also empowers women to act as providers by training them on ways to upgrade their living conditions. As a result, this has paved way for families that had difficulties to access food to change their financial situations. It is also significant to note that through birth control education, individuals in societies gain knowledge on family planning. It is evident that high birth rates hinder means to combat hunger. In this regard, AFC intervenes by educating people in poor communities on how to use contraceptives to access their economic freedom.

On the contrary, efforts to fight against hunger have proved to be futile especially when individuals in poor countries fail to coordinate with action against hunger organization. For instance, a section of individuals still wait for free things instead of using the donated funds to develop their economy. It is also evident that majority of individuals in underdeveloped states are not educated due to poverty. As a result, this makes it difficult for them to find good jobs that will provide them a way to sustain themselves. This increases poverty in the regions because people only idle and wait for donations from organizations (Helms 96). Most of the time, such donations are not sufficient for everyone and this makes it hard to solve the hunger conditions in the society.

Action against hunger organization also encounters limitations when it attempt to reach and provide help to poor countries. A good example is that AFC lacks sufficient funds to fulfill the needs of every individual in society. In such a situation, they partially solve the hunger issue when they only provide the little they have. In this aspect, I recommend the officials in power to intervene and be part of this program. If both the government and non-government parastatals participate fully to offer food donations, this will help to eradicate completely the issue of hunger in developing countries.
