A policy is a rule, principle or a guideline that a particular organization or government formulates and adopts to achieve a long-term goal (Weiss & Tappen, 2015). There are many types of policies that include public, private, health, social and organizational policy. Public policy is a system of regulatory measures that are particular to a given topic. The government publicizes the public policy. A private entity promulgates a private policy. However, a health policy is a decision, plan or an action that medical health organizations to use to achieve health care goals. While a social policy is utilized by the government to improve social services and the welfare of the state, an organizational policy stipulates rules and regulations that are specified within a certain organization (Weiss & Tappen, 2015).
Florence Nightingale was a nurse practitioner under the British government. She is known for her contribution to modern philosophical advances in nursing (Anderson & McFarlane, 2011). Lilian Wald was an American nurse. She is the founder of the American community of nursing. Also, she is known for her contribution to the fight for human rights. Margaret Sanger was a nurse and an activist of birth control methods. She is known for advocating for birth control methods (Anderson & McFarlane, 2011). The ICN is the International Council of Nurses. The group works to ensure that people experience quality nursing through the advocacy of sound health policies (ICN, 2017). The NLCA is the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Association- a non-profit organization of suppliers, builders and contractors based in the construction industry (NLCA, 2017). In the case of Jeanne Blum, the stage of the policy model that the scenario represent is the adoption stage. The adoption phase comprises of decisions made at the governmental level to determine if a given organization can implement a system
