Ford Company has been on the forefront in promoting environmental and social sustainability. The company is aware of the need to protect the environment while establishing strong and long term customer relationships. This does not stop with environment and customers, suppliers too are crucial in the success of Ford. The company has a long term vision revolving around making life better for everybody. Through this vision, the establishment has initiated efforts aimed at shaping the world by acting responsibly and doing its part in addressing concerns that affect people and the planet. Ford has initiated best practices by effectively reducing the environmental footprint of most of its supply chain through the implementation of PACE an initiative for a cleaner environment. So far, over 40 suppliers from 40 countries are on board, and the plan has largely been successful.

Further, Ford has focuses it efforts towards water and energy conservation, that company has been recognized on its efforts on reducing water, carbon emissions thus reducing accumulation of dangerous gases on the atmosphere. Finally, the company is committed towards supply chain sustainability that has considerably promoted the company to be the best among the rest in regards to ethical practice. All these efforts have improved the image of the company in the eyes of customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. As a result, the company has realized improvement in its revenue generation and profitability bottom line. This is anchored on the assertion that most people would want to associate with accompany that is environmental conscious and also one that establishes good rapport with suppliers and customers.

Ford has collaborated with customers and suppliers through its PACE program. The collaboration has improved on environmental sustainability throughout the supply chain. The sustainability has already been implemented at the production sites and expanded to encompass tools that help suppliers reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and waste in the environment.  The program is voluntary where suppliers are invited to participate. Currently, the program has impacted on more than 1,100 supplier locations and directly influencing the lives of many customers in more than 40 countries (Ford Company, 2017). These customers have taken upon themselves to improve their surrounding environment basing themselves upon the principles of PACE. The collaboration has shown the commitment that Ford has towards environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Ford believes on the philosophy where their suppliers must be conscious towards environmental conservation and protection. Similarly, the company is obliged to produce quality products to their customers while minimizing the impacts that such practices have on the environment. According to Mary Wroten, Senior manager in charge of Supply Chain Sustainability, this is doing things the right way (Ford Company, 2017).  The company highly encourages their suppliers to share the responsibility of working together towards the main vision of collective environmental protection to achieve sustainability.

Ford Company engages Global Reporting metric governed by globally developed applicable sustainability procedures and guidelines. Ford as one of the global companies has developed its own targets towards reducing emission of gases on the environment. These data are collected from global environmental bodies and watchdogs that collect data from countries to ascertain the level of their initiatives towards the global agenda. Therefore, Ford Company contributions are among the aspects that bodies such as UNEP determine. Ford chose this metric because it is difficult to measure single contribution towards environmental conservation. Environmental sustainability is a global agenda where each person has to play a role. Besides, Ford measures commitment of their suppliers towards the cause by conducting experiments on the materials they supply to the company.
