Leadership Studies Paper on Cezanne Charles
The video that I chose talked about a woman sharing her thought on the creative industries in Michigan. Her name is Cézanne Charles, the director of innovation and emerging technology, city of Detroit. She has passion to learn constantly and this is how she became a hero on her field. She earned her bacculare degree on theory studies from Ohio State University and now recently she earned her master degree in public health and administration from the ford school a feat that has seen her prominence rise to the summit of the arts industry. Charles leads a diverse industry that is keen to empower and bring on board young enterprising individuals. In her speech, Charles empowering artists and designers is a way in which the community is strengthened and exposed to creative art. While doing so not only empowers individuals to contribute economically to the well-being of the community, it also leverages the private sector, bringing on board different stakeholders for the expansion and diversification of the creative sector.
The video explores Charles thought, opinions, and position on the impact of creative arts in the society. Despite the low number of artists in the field of creative art, Charles argues that it is one of the best upcoming industries if the economic progress is anything to go by. Charles observes that many a time students, the society, do not recognize the place and influence of creative art, a fact that has derailed the growth and expansion of the sector. With her funding from the United States Economic Development Administration, she embarked on studying Michigan’s creative art sector with the aim of learning more about the metro regions of Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor. Her research expanded further to include her research methods that included mixed methodologies in research designs. The knowledge exposed her practical skills in arts, creative place making, social impact, and the application of the arts to promote unity, and serve the society.
Charles speech is rich in agitating and encouraging the incorporation of art into communities with the focus of economically empowering individuals in the art industry. Her speech resonates well with the current mood of many art lovers who are keen on building their career on creative art and community development. Charles emphasis on empowering the community through art is significant considering the vital role creative art plays in the country.
Her use of technology, research, and design to reimaging public areas, experiences, and objects is not only a unique aspect of incorporating art into obvious object and places, it is an economic activity that resonates well with the application of art in ordinary experiences. Her speech portrays a passion for creative art, a feat that is captured in her many creative art activities all over Michigan. From her speech, it is easy to gauge how much she believes that creative art has the ability to change lives, change communities, and give the society a positive cultural image never seen before. Her explanation on the contribution of creative art for community development resonates well with many education policy papers that have often placed emphasis on incorporating art in the financial activities of the community. Her ideas, not only involves community development, but also economic evidence based approach towards incorporating practical skills in the communities instead of focusing on only seeking for funds.
