Law Case Study- Judge of Student Council Elections

As the judge in this case, I am bound by law to give a fair verdict. Aisha, as one of the aspirants, requested support from the council members in her campaign for re-election as Student Council President. The fact that she was a former president does not disqualify her for re-election. In addition, though she received support from the council members, she was not entitled to it. The council members assured support to her by working at her campaign fundraisers. Aisha went ahead and warned the members against supporting her rival candidate, Njood. However, two student council members defied the orders and supported him.

The fact that Aisha was a student council leader did not qualify her to receive any support from the team. As a former student leader, Njood, was entitled to make a request for support for his election tothe council, just like his counterpart, Aisha. The council had the freedom to exercise their right to support any of the candidates. Therefore, Aisha ought to resign as a punishment for denying the council members their rights. She went ahead to threaten them against supporting her rival and even though she won , she failed to reinstate the two members who had supported her rival to the council. On the other hand, the council members are not entitled to be reinstated to their former positions. The fact that they failed to support Aisha is presumably the basis for the loss of their respective positions. I, therefore, conclude by ordering the student president, Aisha, to reinstate these leaders; otherwise she will have to lose her position. All the council leaders are advised to be sensible as leaders and to adhere to the rules and standards of the institution.
