HR Management Essays on The Future Role of Human Resources

Introduction

The role of HR is very critical in preparing an organization to embrace future opportunities as well as overcome challenges. The function of a human resources manager is to manage the most fundamental element of a successful organization which entails a prolific, thriving workforce. HR is a key component in determining the success or failure of an organization.

Role of HR in preparing an organization for the future

The role of HR requires a person that views other people as human assets and not as a means to an end. As postulated by Mathis, Jackson, Valentine, and Meglich (2017) similar to any other asset, HR can strategically use a talented labor force to add value to a business. Therefore, in preparing a business for the future, Strack (n.d.) asserts that human resources manager should be able to understand variety. People prefer a work experience that is not only individualized but which mirrors their needs and aspirations. As such, the organization should engage HR leaders with deep knowledge of their workforce to nurture a realistic and comprehensive experience. Another critical role of HR is to create compliance prerequisites, outline processes and educate the workforce.

Challenges for HR in designing work for a hypothetical future

Human resources Manager is likely to encounter challenges in designing work for a hypothetical future. First, retaining and remunerating talented workforce as stated by Sharkey and Barrett (2017) would be a major battle in the next several years. It would be very difficult to identify and reward potential employees considering the increasing competitiveness which would require collaborated efforts among the organization and workforce. The other critical challenge that HR is likely to experience is developing future leaders. With increasing alternatives for top talented employees, the study by SHRM (2018) unveils that human resources managers are likely to face the challenge of building future business pillars. The increasing turnover of employees is giving HR a hard time with the implementation of practices to improve the engagement of employees and retain them in the organization.

Conclusion

Human resource is perceived as the pillar of any successful business. It plays a fundamental role in preparing an organization for unforeseeable future.  Therefore, HR should understand diversity. Nevertheless, HR is likely to encounter challenges in the future such as retaining potential workforce and preparing leaders with strong leadership skills.
