Geology Paper on Faces of the Earth-Assembling America

Assembling America is an interesting and informative documentary. It is an analysis of the greatest geological aspects of America opens and allows the viewer to understand America in a geological point of view. The video highlights the Nisqually quake and its causation the interaction of the Pacific plate and the continental America plate. In addition, the video details formation of the channel scablands, the hot springs of Yellowstone national park, the Great Salt Lake, the great lake basin, the Chesapeake Bay impact crater, and also highlights the great lakes ( Superior, Ontario, Huron, Erie and Michigan). The video explains the formation, sustenance and the changes expected to occur to this geological features.

The most interesting aspect of the video according to my observations was the creation of the Great lakes while also the continuous geological processes ongoing at the Yellowstone national park provided an interesting aspect of how geological processes continue to intrigue and shape our world. Overall, the videos ability to delve deep into the most important and intriguing aspects of the American landscape in a short time was impressive. One aspect of the video that I did not particularly like was the prospect of the impact crater’s salty water affecting the ability of the people in the surrounding areas gaining access to water. Another negative aspect of the video was the lack of more information on the crater and its impact on the whole of the earth and not just the surrounding areas affected.

The video is informative and provides an opportunity for the view to learn more about the dynamics of American geology. It provides the opportunity for even individuals with minute geological knowledge to learn the basic geological history of America. It was also vital to learn that although oblivious to many, the earth is in constant motion and in a changing state, although barely notable.
