Evidence-Based Practice on The conveyance of quality care and consistent services

Evidence-Based Practice

The conveyance of quality care and consistent services is a significant problem in the healthcare setting. This has prompted the need for evidence-based practice to offer a solution to various challenges based on the best available and authentic evidence. The approach promotes low medical costs, patient-centered care, and development of the medical practitioners (Khammarnia, Mohammadi, Amani, Rezaeian, & Setoodehzadeh, 2015). The evidence-based model is an essential component in the healthcare system as it avert infections and promote effective decision making process.

Application of Evidence-Based Practice in My Workplace

In my current workplace, most of the therapeutic decisions are evidenced-based to help provide quality patient care. For instance, the organization adheres to the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policy which offers guidance on ways to avert the occurrence of diseases in hospitals (Mehta et al., 2014). The framework was developed based on various researches which provided evidence on practices that aid in preventing the prevalence of a disease. Some of the activities initiated by the facility include determining clients at risk of nosocomial ailments and practicing hand hygiene. Furthermore, the institution promotes practices such as isolating patients that are at risk of infecting others, selective use of antibiotic prophylaxis, early nutrition, prompt amputation of necrotic tissues, and observing environmental cleanliness. The entity similarly abides by the standard precaution techniques such as wearing gloves, gowns, and shoe and eye coverings when handling highly infectious patients.

The use of evidence-based practice in the health care system is a major component in enhancing effective decision-making and promoting the provision of quality care. My current place of work incorporates various evidence-based techniques to prevent the occurrence of infectious diseases. The organization observes both hand and environmental hygiene, selective use of antibiotic prophylaxis, isolation of highly infectious patients, and early nutrition to promote healthy living.
