Cultural Studies Paper on Globalized Interaction

The 21st century has witnessed a significant decrease in illiteracy levels globally. The Chinese government in partnership with non-governmental organization support the need for education and global exchange through various exchange projects. The Canadian embassy recently adopted an exchange program with the institution I attended in China to have several students travel to Canada for a four-year exchange program. Being I diligent student, the appointing tutor found it worthy that I go to another part of the world and pursue my academic goals. I was in my second year in my university studies when I moved to Canada in 2016 to continue cultural and ethnic studies. From my experience in a new environment, I am learning the essence of global interaction and exchange in promoting harmonious cooperation and existence with each other. With the development of education, industrialization, and technology, global businesses are growing very fast increasing the demand for cultural professionals.

Moving into a new continent, I envisioned to impact my new group with our culture and my home community upon return. The opportunity to interact with people from different regions comprising of legal and illegal immigrants in Canada was a chance to learn the cultures of different groups. Culture exists within every society that sets in the way of interaction and setting boundaries. Learning the techniques of life of different groups equips one with adequate knowledge to discern their boundaries and way of life and facilitate favorable exchange and interaction. The development of world business, technology, science, and industrialization depends on the capacity of participants to interact and impact each other. The current generation of learners of cultural studies is responsible for developing interaction modules and exploring existing and ancient cultures of different ethnic groups and regions. My interaction with a new group of learners, society, and people from different continents highlight numerous intercultural exchanges are taking place in the modern world.

Contact Through Education

The most significant opportunity I seized to explore different culture occurred during my academic year. During my professional pursuit, I got the chance to travel from my home nation for the first time giving me the opportunity to open my mind to global contact. Back in China, the levels of intercultural interaction were minimal bearing in mind the levels of diversity of Chinese culture. The area comprises mainly Chinese people thus challenging to learn about outside world culture. The opportunity to travel to China expanded my experience with different cultures considering the diversity of their population. Education became the basis of my interaction with global cultures and new societies. My dreams of being a global player in cultural studies felt more achievable than ever during experience with Canadians, at their university and the community. I thought that this experience in Canada would place me in better positions to interact with the growing European population in China.

Language Contact

During my early academic year, I attended an English based missionary school where I learned the basics of the language though not at proficiency levels. My elementary school was entirely Chinese. However, I got to develop and expand my language proficiency during my high school and colleges studies. Moving to an entire English community in Canada, it was not a big challenge communicating with other learners. The biggest problem in communication was the speed among the natives who tend to talk faster; thus it was difficult to comprehend their utterances. Elsewhere, I began learning Spanish. There were several learners from Spain in the exchange program at the Canadian university. I was eager to learn and teach the Spanish student some little Chinese. Our interaction entirely relied on our capacities to communicate. The communication with students and communities speaking different languages, learning about their practices, and teaching them about Chinese culture together informed my understanding of globalization.

Education

In the context of globalization education plays an important role developing global concepts and perception from different regions. My experience with fellow adults from different areas of the world including, America, Europe, Africa, and other parts of Asia helped me understand the need of professional, and role of education in shaping global interactions. The exchange program exposed me to different cultural aspects of the natives, new elements from other learners including music, language, diets, and fashions. In my pursuit of becoming a leading culturalist in my home region in China, drove my desire to explore as many cultures as possible. Back in Canada, I enrolled in part-time studies of Latino cultures and the history of the America to promote my understanding of their way of life. Globalization has increased the mobility of global players across the globe. The growing population of foreigners in China is enough evidence of the prudent interaction between the two societies.

The globalized mind

My experience from traveling different parts of the world including Europe and America triggers the thought that global exchange has turned the globe into one large community divided by regional notions. When a society adopts global trends and practices, they are assimilated into the global culture and become one piece. Similarly, regional difference impact on the development of globalization when an individual from different regions begin to form meaningful interaction creating networks and avenues for exchange. The growth and adopt new practices from various world cultures enables citizens to treat each other with mutual respect for the self, ethnic group, and national level
