The objective of this study was to explore how the early childhood educators make their ethical decisions in their profession. The study also delved into finding out how these professionals based their decisions on the accepted ethical code for the profession. This study was done using a participatory professional development process. The researchers used the National Association for the Education of Young Children Code of Ethical Conduct for this study. Six early childhood teachers participated in the study. The study was carried out in a University Lab School. The results indicated a shift in the approach used by the teachers to resolve ethical dilemmas when pre-assessment and post-assessment findings were analyzed. The participation in professional discussions and learning made the teachers more aware of the Code of Ethical Conduct that they are supposed to adhere to. It further enabled them to differentiate ethical dilemmas from other judgments. The conclusion of the study was that additional professional learning would make the teacher more competent regarding ethics protocols in their profession.
